Holidays' watercolor
I've been in vacation the past week and didn't do anything even though I had hoped to draw for my webcomics ^^;;
However I wanted to make a gift to my parents-in-law for hosting us, all the more so that they refused that we pay anything during our holidays (food, fair tickets, gas for the multiple car trips...), so I ended up making a little watercolor piece of art, a bit in a hurry, on the last day.
It's the first time I offer someone an original lil' piece of my art, especially a natural media art. Indeed I often feel like my art doesn't have any value and is bad quality, and also because most of the people I interact with in my daily life either don't know I draw or aren't interested in manga style (so I wouldn't "force it on them").
The exception with my parents-in-law is that they decorated their walls with some of my very old pieces of art taken from my very 1st website, that they printed without me knowing it and had been showing them proudly to all the neighbours and friends visiting them and with whom they talked "family". Needless to say I died of embarrassment the 1st time I went to visit them (and since then, I changed my website entry page URL!). However, more than 10 years after that, when I go visit them and my would-be sister-in-law by alliance (girlfriend of my brother-in-law) proudly shows my ancient color pencil sketches to her own brother-in-law, I really really feel like hiding under a rock # -__- #
So with my lil' gift, I had wished for them to have a more worthy piece of my would-be art ^^
I 1st drew a blue sketch, made a "clean copy" by putting a blank piece of paper on top of the sketch a tracing the lines by transparency (I stuck it all on a window pane to have it pass for a lightbox thanks to the marvelous sunny weather we had) and finally colored it with watercolors.
I tried to take a photo, as I didn't know if I could scan it later (which I did but forgot to send myself back -__-;;; )... crappy photo, as I could'nt take it while being on top of the picture (bad light!).
I realized yesterday only that I totally forgot to draw the second arm of the girl... did I say I was in a hurry? <-- bad excuse -__-;;;
