GOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!

I had reservations about going to the Blue Eagle gym early this morning but in the end I'm happy I decided to be suicidal and watch anyway. I got to watch Germany win and well... pretty much managed to stop Mary from feeling sad and disappointed. I must say I didn't expect Germany to win while they have three injured players INCLUDING Michael Ballack. But the last match proved that Germany did deserve to get this far into the game and that they really deserved their victory over the "cornedbeef". But at the same time I'm starting to fear for France. The match just proved the efficiency of the Italian defense.

While I'm extremely pleased with Germany's win, I feel bad for Ricardo. He's a great goalie and though I wanted to stone him during the England game, conceding two goals to Schweinsteiger after working so hard isn't OK. But of course the kicker was Petit's own goal. Mary said Germany should have given them a German Petit jersey and thanked him for "making our victory very apparent". Poor Figo I really wish he had a better game or at least something that he'd want to look back at and remember fondly as his last game.

There's something very amusing and different about watching own goals. Well... probably not if it's the team you're rooting for but it's embarrassing to say the least and having your name flashed under the oposing team's scoreboard with an "(OG)" beside it is absolutely mortifying.

I get why Oliver Kahn is a legend. He's very different from other goalies and though I really wish he didn't concede the goal to Nuno, it was a brilliant goal. Besides with the Petit's ridiculous own goal it would really have been too much if Portugal didn't manage to score and I really don't mind as long as it's not Ronaldo. Ugh! Cute as the boy may be he still gets on my nerves. I'm not a fan of the squatter diving tactics (a friend even commented, "baka colorblind ang Portugal instead of green blue ang nakikita nila") or the way his superstar status gets to his head.

I can't believe it. Tomorrow's going to be the last time that I'll have to watch a game in the wee hours of the morning. A good thing? Well... I'm definitely gonna miss having something to do at two and three in the morning. Geez! I hope I don't end up feeling empty.

Lukas Podolski and Bastian Schweinsteiger

Luis Figo and Oliver Kahn

But of course there will always be things that will be better reasons than Germany's victory for third place to celebrate.

Happy Birthday Ruari! :) :) :)

Happy Birthday James! :) :) :)
