Week in short
Quite a long time since I've posted, even on my vacation. I had planned to take a break and do some personal things (GREs). However, visiting with friends, family time, and the Wii have distracted me effectively. But now I get to unload a bit at the ERC in Ann Arbor (the HQ of the franchise).
OMG! It's you!!!
Last night, I hung out with Raych and we went to a bar in Detroit. A friend of hers was playing a gig and begged her to see him perform. After a bit of confusion on the directions I got (If I turn right on Woodward, I'll end up in the river!), we made it. After the first band played, I turn over to the entrance and see a woman pay to get in. She turns around, and it's Megan *D*. The reaction consisted of head tilting, pointing, and then huge hugs. Megan and I went to high school together (well, for a year) but haven't seen each other since I moved to Boston. We spent a good hour catching up and exchanging phone numbers. This simply was a pleasant surprise.
Friday
Got to hang out with superspryte and finally get to meet scuba_sm. Started at the Bean, went to TGI Fridays for dinner where scuba_sm's friend met up with us. We then went to Blockbuster to pick up a movie (of which we never watched) and headed over to my place for some Wii. Well, all we did was play with the Wii. From Wii Sports, to scuba_sm playing Red Steel, to scuba_sm and I playing Bommerman 93. Later in the night, quidditchpup drove over and hung out with us. When everyone else left around midnight, quidditchpup and I hung out till about 6am.
Thursday
Not too much to report as it was dinner at my best friend's place. Haven't seen them since Chris & Natalie's wedding. After I successfully got a food coma, the guys decided to go to the movies and see Casino Royale (2006). They're trying to make the film more like Mission Impossible, but without Tom Cruse so it doesn't leave a bad after-taste in your mouth.
Wens
Dentist visit during the day. It's been a year since I had my last one, which means it's the first time I have ever missed my 6-month appointment. The Dr wanted to put caps on my teeth because my back molars were too deep. A preventive measure not covered by my insurance. I'll live though.
At night, love_your_ego and her boy took me to Necto for the night. quidditchpup also joined up as well. Had a very good time meeting up and talking with everyone. It's good to know I'm always welcomed by the Detroit scene.
Tues
With nemesis2207 crashing on the futon, I checked into my flight on-line to discover they had moved my flight times to two hours earlier than I booked and changed connections. Before I was hopping on Baltimore, now I was hopping Atlanta. Thanks for telling me AirTran. :/ We had some lunch and then I left for the airport.
At Logan's security screening, my Wii was placed for 'extra screening'. A strange white box going though security apparently throws a red flag. The guard put it though a special box scanner, and then gave the Wii back to me. The box seems to be OK, so I shouldn't be so worried on the way back. I did get a special Wii case at Target for the flight back. The flights themselves were uneventful.
Mon
Work was work. Though less stressful as the auditions went well. Stayed a little later so that I could go directly to South Station and pick up nemesis2207 on the Bus. After picking her up, we had some dinner at Cinderella's and went to Ceremony. Sadly, not too many people where there that night. Still great to spend time with her. Too bad she had to come during a vacation where I'm not in town. :/
