Yesterday, I helped out some kids from
Brandeis film an interview of
Jenny Owen Youngs, a folk music musician (or psydo emo as the kids are calling it these days). I first heard her when she opened at
the Regina Concert last April with
septicidal. After that concert, I started talking with Ms. Young in order for
septicidal to chime in and talk to her. She didn't get the hint that time.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago.
septicidal managed to strike up an interview for the next time she was in town. I helped out in a sort of advisory role for the production. Lord knows no one at Emerson asked me to help out that much. The actual interview itself was great. Ms. Young gives a lot to an interview and is actually fun to talk to. It's this fact alone that I think she'll have a larger career than she has now. At some point in the future the clips will be available on line and I'll link accordingly.
Which brings me to the personal reflection of this post. My roll in the shoot was something of a line producer though I may have slipped in to a producer roll at times. But you know what? It really felt good to be working on a shoot, regardless of it's size. I haven't been on a shoot since the last scene from Antidote (and we all know how that turned out). In all, I need to do more than just programming some time real soon.
