San Francicso: ALL BY MY SELF!
Today, I toured around San Francisco all by my self! I visited the following:
0) Pre-amble
Took the BART to downtown, had some lunch at a deli place, then hopped on the 3 bus to Japan town.
1) Japantown
Not really much in Japantown (in contrast to Chinatown). People actually live and have a community in Japantown where as Chinatown is more focused on selling you crap.
2) Ghirardelli Square
Got on the 19 bus and rode over to Ghirardelli Square for their famous ice-cream sunday. Would have been better to share the thing with someone, but chocolate goodness was had.
After, I walked out and sat on the coat line for a while. Listening to the waves and trying to clear my head for the first time in a long time. Then got up to walk along one of the old piers. Managed to take a few photos like these:
Then walked along the edge of the coast line (sorta) in to the touristy part of the peir. None of which really interested me much, like the $20 Ripply's Believe it or Not.
3) Coit Tower
Then managed to get to the 39 bus and take it to Coit Tower. A little back story here. I'm a big fan of the Tex Murphy adventures. In one of the games, you visit a bum that resides at Coit Tower. Always wanted to see what the place is in real life, so I wanted to go.
Not much of a place, but there are some wonderful views of the city. You can look at the gallery at the end of this post for all the photos, but it was worth the trip if only for the views.
4) Metreon & Finishing out Downtown
After hopping on the 39 with my free transfer, then the 15 with the same transfer, I ended up near Sony's Metreon. After walking around the park behind it, I walked in and took a few photos of the 2006 Walk of Game photos. Only one really should be noted: Sid Meier.
I went over to the arcade there and played $10 worth of games. Not really much there, but at least I got my arcade fix in. Stopped by the Playstation store, but nothing of note.
From there, I walked around the area both finding a place to eat and for anything to shop for. Walked in to Borders to find some of the game history books I want, but it seems that I'll be ordering them on Amazon. Finally ended up eating at Del Taco since I've never eaten there. Now I have, and that's that.
It was about 7pm so I hopped on the BART and went back to my sister's place.
