Wow, packed weekend...
Thursday night:
Went to GR to visit Liz [
runningdark] and the crew. I really missed Liz and any other sign of human connection so I was happy to visit. After picking up Liz and Eeks [
darkdepths], we went to Friday's and had a snack. Talked about various things going on in our lives, displaying each other's sexuality on each other, that sort of thing. Eventually we went back to Liz's place, I chatted a bit about Myst with Liz's roommate. Got home at about 4am. Glad I have only one class at noon on Fridays.
Friday:
After class, drove to Dearborn and to the home. My parents were off to a wedding in Cinci Ohio so I had the place to my self. Since we're moving soon and are selling the house, all the rooms looked so bare and just... different. It was very strange.
Eventually it was time to see Meg's [
blissfulchaos] show at the
Hilberry. Got there, got my ticket and walked downstairs. Right away I see Andy who I went to high school with. We didn't utter more than a hello, we never really talked, just knew of our existence. So I sit down and look at the program. I see Meg's name, but then I saw Joe Colsie's name! Joe and I worked on Guns Kill Kids back in my Senior year, and I keep seeing his work pop up now and then. I knew I was in for a treat. :)
The performance itself had it's merit, but I could tell early on that there just wasn't a spark happening that night. Don't get me wrong, it was no where near of suck, but for some reason the performers just weren't in the mode for some reason. It happens. As far as Meg's performance (who I know is reading this!), I simply have to say that she was worked up over nothing. :) For Joe, his work is always a pleasure to view and his presence on the stage is always a treat. The rest of the cast was very solid all around. It didn't suck. :)
After the show, Meg came out and we walked to the Cass Cafe for a late dinner. Meg and I caught up on a few things in our lives, about the show, and other such things. Eventually we went to a party at the Wayne State dorm. With the exception of a costume designer named Kate, I was the only non-frosh in the room, but it was no matter. There was a Dj at the party on the turntables which was pleasurable. I spend most of the time observing people. Gathering ideas for characters, the usual. Eventually I said good-bye and drove home to sleep.
Saturday:
Woke at about 1230 and eventually got back on the road at 2ish. Wanted to eat at Panchero's in Ann Arbor so I got on to Washtanaw Ave. WHen I get to the intersection at Forest St, I see a HUGE trafic backup. I forgot it's Hash Bash. I drove around the mess and got back on the freeway to eat at a Wendy's on the road.
Got back at the dorm, eventually ate at Toco Hell and stopped over at Amber and Lindsay's place. Hung out a bit. Before Amber had to go for her shift, two of her friends came over and I started talking to [a different than stated before] Liz. She mentioned she was working on the CAB website among others, and I gave her some solid advice about web publishing. We also talked about movies, theatre, RENT, MYST, etc. Amber was hinting that the two of us were 'really hitting it off', I was just enjoying someone to listen to and to hear me about my wile RENT theories. Certainly nothing romantic on my end.
Sunday:
Woke up, picked up Amber and Lindsay, and went to see
Earnest. Really good show, and the paint job was awesome! My only real complaint would be the speed of the lines. It was SO fast... While there, I saw Justin E.'s parents there. It was good to talk to them for a bit.
After the show, we went to Fazolies and ate dinner. Amber and Linday were fighting a bit, there seems to be tension between the two. I just stay out of it. :)
After I dropped them off, I work on various things on the
WMU Theatre site.
Subscription info mostly, but also the
faculty pages. And here I am now.
