And, with what could have been just a whisper of the wind, Sebastian was beside him. The butler stood tall and straight as ever, in the black suit befitting a 19th century servant. The breeze sifted through the dark hair framing his face. He remained expressionless while straightening his white gloves. His interest in the blond man seemed pleasant and professional, nothing more.
Sebastian regarded the man in front of him with a solemn expression. He was not accustomed to being refused, so if Jane had called him out here to do that he would be rather displeased. Still, it was an uncanny circumstance that had forced his hand to begin with, so he had known the risks involved with giving such an open choice. When he offered himself to other masters, usually the alternative was death.
"I want Red John. You said you could help me do that." He kept his hands in his pockets, and the wind picked up just slightly, making his shirt collar blow open just a bit more.
