Sean's Summer Production

The Old Maid and the Thief

The show went spectacularly well.  I was incredibly busy the last two weeks that the seemingly slow pace of rehearsing to previous 3 weeks was entirely forgotten.  We measured how big the stage was and taped it out at the church where we rehearsed.  It was very helpful, but it felt so much different on stage.

The director gave me a note to give Bob a more cheerful disposition, but don’t go too childish.  This was the day before the dress rehearsal and it felt like I had to change my whole character.  In the end, all I did was smile more and it turned out well (or so I was told.)  I got to speak to a high school choir director after the production who said he would send me students for voice lessons.  So, I had apparently done a good enough job that he would send he kids to me.  I wondered how it looked for me to be on stage, as the oldest member of the group (only by a year).  I had been looking forward to the production for six months, it was heart breaking to only have one performance.  After the production, as I started learning the music for Desiree, I was longing to sing Menotti’s music again.  It was so nuanced and dynamic.

I pwned Bob’s Bedroom Aria.  It was the best number of the show.
