Bond & Boosh

The last two nights have been spent doing things mostly related to the letter B.

I wanted to go see QoS because I've seen every Bond film ever. I refuse to let my hatred of Daniel Craig spoil my love of the Bond series. And, I was pleasantly surprised. Not by Craig, I still dislike him intensely, but by the film.

I definitely preferred it to Casino Royale, though I am aware that my view of this is somewhat biased. I've only ever seen CR the once, when it was out in cinemas, and as such my only memory now is that it was long. Not really the basis for a good comparison.

But either way, I didn't get bored of QoS as I did with CR. I am however upset by the lack of gadgetry - that makes Bond, people - and I'm also annoyed that they're trying to make storylines that go beyond one film. I far prefer my Bond to be standalone films, where you can pick up any film and watch it, whilst needing only minimal backstory knowledge. Know the villain, and you're good to go.

So, in summary, I liked QoS, but it was still a long way off the standard of 'classic' Bond, for me.

What an awesome night. We had really good seats - fourth row from the front, off to the right a bit but still easily able to see everything. The set and the costumes were fantastic, and the boys are just as hilarious live as on TV.

I was hoping for the Spirit of Jazz and/or Old Gregg, but their lacking was definitely made up for by Naboo's back-turning, and the number of songs they did. And the Honey Monster attack(s).

I'm still grinning from ear to ear, really. Amazing night, amazing show.

film: james bond, comedy: mighty boosh, actor: daniel craig
