The last Pete Seeger shows we watched featured (a very young) Doc Watson exhibiting his fine flat picking style. I love Doc Watson and became aware of him along with the Carter Family, and the new Lost City Ramblers when I hooked up with Richard. Before that I was a main stream music listener. ( although I admit to stealing my father's Glen Miller album and my grandfather's collection of Beethoven and listening to them several times on our very cheap portable record player) I find the music selected by Doc to always be simple songs sung whole hearted. He has such a unique voice.
The second Pete Seeger show we watched featured the Stanley Brothers who played with the Clinch Mountain Boys. They had playing with them a woman I had never heard of. Her stage name was Cousin Emmy, and she was a delight!! She played her mouth and a rubber glove!! I looked her up on the web after wards....please google Cousin Emmy. She was an amazing person!
I wanted to tell you about what amazing birds I have been seeing lately. While driving Nisha to a friends on saturday we saw a Red Shoulder Hawk sitting on a hydro pole on the Wolf Grove Road. Yesterday I saw a Bald Headed Eagle on Concession 7 and a Harrier flew out in front of my car while on the Rosetta Rd. Today I had a flock of geese fly over me and land in the river where I am working. They swam there all morning and were still there when I left.
