There is this air of creativity around most of the people I know. Eliza has a short script for a short she'd (we'd) like to to. Becky is brimming with ideas for features, shorts, docs, you name it, Caroline is tossing around TV ideas, Nate's friend Rob who works for a SpFX co is throwing around ideas for miniseries as well as shorts.... everyone who was in film school is basically saying they are tired for working for other people in office jobs or sporadic set jobs and are ready to get out some filmy creativity on a nice short film on the side. It's really quite inspiring.
Weekend was good, Nate didn't work on Saturday so we got a lot of errands done. Mall shopping (4 new shirts and a pretty skirt for less than $60), Target shopping, dog grooming (she was not happy about this, but it's her shedding season and dear god did she need it), groceries, post office, and 3 margaritas later, Saturday is over. Sunday was lazy and nice, but the high point of the evening was vounteering for SAG and SAGIndie's cocktail reception thingie for the LA Film Fest. Eliza has her new fancy job at SAGIndie and they needed volunteers, so I went, not knowing what to expect and ended up working the door. With "The List". Which was fun, and I got to sit there with this guy from Michigan (surprise surprise) who moved out here 2 years ago who works for SAG but is into docs, so we talked about that in between checking in people like Lou Diamond Phillips (who shook my hand and if my mother had been there she would have died), Elliot Gould (with whom I had a conversation, and who was really really cool....Jack Gellar!), Debbie Mazar (who talked forever about the Italian soccer team that is playing today in the world cup), Jason Lee (who is like 8 feet tall and didn't say anything to us), and Eddie Izzard (who is so cool and I thought of you, Rachel, every time I saw him). It was nice, and I got to spend more time with Eliza and Devin, and meet this guy who went to CCC and moved here like a week ago. Although he looks familiar I swear I don't know him, although we went to school together for 3 years. Meh? Anyway, it was really nice, met a few really nice indie filmmakers (a few docmakers from NYC), drank some drinks, and got home late. Woot. Good times.
