I'm beginning to dislike Marvel...

It says something that the only titles I still look foward to from the "House of (bad) Ideas" are their Ultimate books.

They made an executive decision a while back to give each creator complete creative control over their title. Apparently, that means sacrificing cohesion and history in the name of cheap thrills that don't usually pan out. I'm sick of walking into the store and seeing 12 X-books on the racks. I'm sick of reading a 22 page story that I could have told in 5. I hate the fact that Marvel leaves the worst writer in the business on their flagship book, and I'm really pissed off by their inability to create an interesting new character since the mid 70's.

Do a version of Crisis. It'll piss some people off, but it's the only chance of regaining the old sense of wonder that was such a drawing factor. You pick up Uncanny and you don't see Spidey swing through: you see a bunch of horribly rendered anime sprites engaging in some of the worst adventures ever conjured up. You want a Fantastic Four book, there are going to be something like 4 monthlies on the shelf. WHY? The FF can barely carry their own title these days.

Dammit Marvel.

More Vertigo, please. Sandman, Preacher, Swamp Thing, Lucifer, Fables, Y: the Last Man.

That's where it's at.

But as long as Marvel puts those books out, I'll be there every week.

I'm a fanboy, what can I say?

Peace and good karma.
