Is this Mary-Anne with the pot?

My final writing portfolio (an introduction and 5 essays) weighed in at 49 pages. That gave me a strangely satisfying feeling. Anytime I get any piece of my writing into a relatively completed state...

I began the process of watching my collection of Highlander: Season One dvds. Corny, hour long installments of early 90's sci-fi goodness. Ain't nothing wrong with that. Amusingly, Games Workshop stores are shown repeatedly throughout the run.

Plus, it's about a bunch of immortal guys who run around with cool weapons hacking each other's heads off. Beheadings rock. When it's not... y'know... me.

Hostility: that's what I'm feelings toward Boston College right now. I checked my mail for the first time since school began. Foolish, yes, but so be it. I figured everything important at BC is done via email, right?

Wrong.

Apparently, they sent me information about having to sign for a financial aid document worth around $600. In the mail. Once. They never called, and never emailed, and apparently now they're blaming me for missing the window of opportunity. Fuck that, assholes.

I've listened to the new Offspring album online a few times. It sounds like the past two albums: pretty poppy attempts at something resembling punk rock. There are some damn catchy tracks, and some of the songs show that spark of greatness they possessed on Smash and Ignition, but overall... just really mediocre stuff.

"You'll see them again on their long journey to the middle."

I think, for the Offspring, their journey is over. Congratulations, boys.

You're average!

One thing that isn't average is Neil Gaiman. Each new issue of 1602 leaves me giddy like a 12 year old stealing a glimpse at his mom's Victoria Secret catalogue. This shit is awesome. The premise is a Marvel Universe where, rather than occurring in the early 60's, the strange happenings and odd mutations that created the world's greatest heroes had happened in the year 1602. Gaiman has a feel for the characters, a flare for dialogue, and a penchant for setting up scenarios to inspire sentimentality in even the most diehard Marvel-haters.

Three issues left, and while I haven't gotten that single ineffable revelation that is his trademark, Gaiman still has my faith.

Guster isn't going to materialize, mainly because we waited too long to get tickets. This isn't as tragic as it might have been, because earlier today, the Dropkicks announced two more St. Patrick's Day shows. One is 21+, but the other is Sunday afternoon, which means two shows in one day, and overall, four in one weekend!

Plus, they're touring in February with Stiff Little Fingers.

By my count, I'll have seen them 9 times come the end of March.

Almost Famous makes me realize how much I wish Jason Lee did more acting.

Finally, I'm in love.

Peace and good karma.
