Giles is new as Willow points out. (Since the summer?) And there are like only five people (Willow, Xander, Cordy, Jonathan, and Owen) that actually use the library as a library in the entire series.

I'm not sure what you mean by Giles being new, I guess that's why he thought it would be okay to show up the The Bronze (not the library)?

I'm not sure viciouswishes meant by that, but I took it to mean that most of the students at The Bronze wouldn't even have realized that he was a faculty member.

Actually, an all-nighter writing a speech that I gave the next evening. ;)

If memory serves, Willow says that Giles was the new librarian who started working there the summer pre-S1. I'd assume that since students don't frequent the library, they might've not even recognized him at The Bronze. To me truthful, I don't think I would've recognized my high school librarian outside of the library.
