Your Suggestions, Please!

While I’m waiting for my book release, I’m thinking about how I’ll promote the book.  Considering my great goal in life was to become an eccentric author who never changed out of her pajamas and eats things like celery dipped directly into the jar of peanut butter to avoid wasteful preparation time which digs into my precious writing time, I really had never hoped to become my own best promoter.

Yet, here it is 2010 and the vast majority of authors have to be the starring role of their successful book promotion.  Part of me loves the challenge of spreading the word.  I’ve got a somewhat screwy appreciation for bar graphs. If I can equate the results of promotion into a bar graph and then make those graphs grow, I’ll be abnormally thrilled. Obsessed with watching the results, as a matter of fact.  But on the face-to-face side of promotion, I’m still a shy 9 year old who is even too shy to admit aloud that she is shy.  I’ve frequented the Shrinking Violet Promotions blog in order to boost my confidence. I’ve read a lot of posts all over the internet which have given me ideas of what I might need to do to promote my book, but what I really want is solid advice from the people who’ve been through it. Shy or not.

What ONE thing are you super glad you did as part of your book promotion?  And how did you set it up?  Give the dirty details.  Pretend like I know nothing, because you know what…um…I don’t know a thing.

Don’t forget, the contest is still going on to celebrate newly released The Healing Spell by Kimberley Griffiths Little.  With little effort on your part, you can win something, I’ve got lots to give away. Visit the blogview post for details. http://bit.ly/aN3Q2p
