Are you familiar with the saying, “I know just enough to get myself in trouble?”  That applies to my relationship with computers.  Just when I consider myself savvy, someone mentions something they are doing that I’ve never even heard of before and others reply as though they’ve been using this particular tool for ages.  Sigh.  I’m blessed to know many people who will take the time to define these foreign phrases to me.  Sometimes I get it…sometimes I smile politely and nod, knowing it’s something that will never make sense to me.

I participated in a fun and inspirational event this month, March Madness.  I’m not going to come anywhere close to the goals I had set out for myself at the beginning of the month but I’m so glad that I took part in the event.  I’ve found a couple more writer ‘friends’ that I’m looking forward to keeping tabs on as they go through their journeys.  I’ve gotten further in a WIP that is whipping my booty, one of us will win this wrestling match some day and I hope my WIP understands how tenacious I am.

Here is an enjoyable interview Edith Cohn did with, Olugbemisola Rhuday-Perkovich, the author of 8th Grade Super Zero, a book on my ‘to be read’ list.

Spring break is over for us already.  It was last week.  There was nothing relaxing about it around here.  Not for my husband and I, at least.  At work, we work for a Habitat for Humanity affiliate, we hosted two different groups of college kids who chose to spend their spring break giving to our community by helping us build affordable housing, run our ReStore and prepare our spring newsletter mailing.  More than 60 students traveled from separate colleges in the state of Washington to donate their precious time to us. (Is that awesome, or what!?)  Then our kids’ high school band is hosting 60 some students from Japan. We personally have one of the students staying with us at our house.  Her name is Mami (pronounced ‘mommy’-that in itself is cute.) She is so charming and fun.  Spending this time with all of these older teens/young adults really affirms my belief in a bright future.  It is easy to get caught up in media hype over the ugliness of some people but I’ve witnessed loads of good things that overshadow what is being portrayed all over the media these days.  Let us not forget just how many people make up a country and how the vast majority of them never do anything exciting enough to be put on the news.

I noticed ducks fly in the rain.  That is unusual, right?  I guess when water just rolls off your back, a little rain can’t stop you.

I’ve been contemplating different word origins recently.  Like why are there two spellings for the words ‘hooray’ and ‘hurray’ and ‘yeah’ and ‘yay’? I’d appreciate anyone sharing whatever information they have on these words because it will free up some more writing time for me. The only benefit to me being on such a nonsense research mission is that I use Goodsearch and my Habitat affiliate earns a penny each time I enter a search.
