FANFIC: Hope

It has been a day since that disaster.  I felt more relieved that the rain started to lessen.  It felt as if somebody pulled me out of the darkness.

But the scar of the typhoon remained in my country.  The viscous mud was scattered all over the roads, houses, schools and a lot of public places.  Trash, scattered.

Looking through the bright side, I saw children happily playing in the flood (was this supposed to be a good thing?) and families reunited after the flood.  Seeing people slowly rebuilding their broken shelter, made me feel light and fluffy.

Cleaning outside my house, a boy tugged my shirt.   It was the same boy who I met a day ago searching for his parents.  This time he looked happier.

‘Thank you!’

His innocent eyes glittered in the sunlight.  I felt even lighter.  Like what I did yesterday, I knelt down and patted his head.  With a rejoicing tone, I asked him, ‘Why is that?’

‘Even though I lost my parents in this flood.  I’m happy because they were both heroes!’

‘Is that so?  By the way, who are you with now?’

‘My neighbour.  Despite my home being destroyed by the flood, he’s the only memory I left of my heroic parents!’

For a kid to say such these words.  I knew he was strong.  He had courage.

He had hope to rebuild this broken home.
