well, it's taken us a while, but we've finally come up with some basic guidelines for holding real, in person conversations. what's better is that we actually have evidence to support these bite-size smidgens of advice. in fact, we are the evidence. regardless, we're going to cut to the chase here.
1. do not consume coffee in excess of 1/2 a gallon, or beverage with equivalent caffeine content, within one six hour period. if your hands are noticeably and uncontrollably shaking, this is not a good sign.
2. avoid vague hand gestures.
3. eat and sleep in healthy amounts before attempting to hold said conversation.
4. if you can't hear the other person speaking, move to a location where you can. do not continually ask, "wait, what?" as this may lead your companion to believe that you are deaf.
5. avoid unhumorous self-depreciating comments.
6. if the going gets rough, remember that you have an urgent appointment on the other side of town. do not keep going.
7. above all, do not exhibit behavioral patterns that may indicate to your companion that you are some sort of crack fiend bipolar schizophrenic, as this may curtail the likelihood of future conversations.
