I was informed upon my arrival in this place that there is a 'police force' present and I am taking it to mean that they would be the guards in charge of keeping order considering that I was also told they were the ones who dealt with a recent murder in the city.

If one of you could inform me of how this police force operates and the structure as well as the man in charge [because in his time, ladies did the cooking and mending and squeezed out babies] then I would be extremely grateful for it.
And now a matter that is far less savoury. There is a man, an assassino, who goes by the name Ezio Auditore da Firenze. I would ask of you not to trust this man as he is guilty of spregevoli crimini and the blood of many Nobiltà italiana dirties his hands. He has even made an attempt on the life of my father, Rodrigo Borgia better known as Alexander VI, within the walls of il Vaticano. I cannot stress how little he is to be trusted. If any of you would wish information on him, in return for information of your own on this world and the police force, you would find me most agreeable.
