Jess gazed longingly at the shoes. Red, ankle-breakingly high, stylish and just perfect. She wanted them more than anything.
The tag said £199. Expensive, but so worth it. She gritted her teeth and handed over her credit card.
Realising that, after only two days wear, she'd left them behind when the bugs took over the ARC was heartbreaking.
But when Becker turned up with the ruined remains and a slightly self-conscious, nervous smile on his face (and she just knew the others had been teasing him, no matter what they'd promised) it was worth the price of any stupid shoes.
