Catching Up - Primeval Drabble
Catching up, when someone appeared through an anomaly, was supposed to be more of an interrogation. Becker, Danny and Emily had experienced it before. Jess hadn’t.
It wasn’t as tough as they’d made out.
“Technically you went AWOL,” Lester told her.
“You’d have stopped me going.”
“Indeed. I had no field coordinator.”
“My deputy…”
“Resigned! Said I was rude and unappreciative!”
Jess raised an eyebrow pointedly.
“I’ll make the jokes, Miss Parker. The replacements were hopeless. Obviously you’ll return to work immediately.”
“Tomorrow?”
“Immediately.”
“Aren’t you supposed to make sure I’m genuine?”
“I’m convinced. Welcome back, now get to work!”
