Intensive Care
It was horrendous, the damage.
The abuse had obviously been going on for months, probably the entire time that Emily had been away.
Jess felt quite sick when she saw it and had to excuse herself for a moment. But this was her friend, and she had to be strong. There was nobody else.
Jess gathered together her first aid kit. It was possible that Emily was beyond hope, but she had to try. She took a deep breath, then went back up to the living room where Emily was waiting.
First, those hands would need a citrus cuticle soak...
