“Let’s have a weekend away,” Becker said. “You’ll enjoy it.”
Stomping around the Welsh mountains wasn’t completely awful. At least, not until the blisters set in.
Jess had bought new walking boots. Reasonably sensible ones, even. She was prepared.
Except she hadn’t thought to break them in (because did shoes that boring-looking need to be broken in? Really? Who knew?)
“You’ll be fine,” Becker assured her. To be fair, his first aid ministrations were definitely enjoyable. “Tomorrow we’ll do Snowdonia.”
Jess blanched. “We’ll be going up on the railway, yes?”
Becker frowned.
“I’ll beg if I have to,” Jess added.
