“He was a creepy little weasel of a man with nothing to recommend him,” Lester declared.
“You can’t say that,” Lorraine pointed out gently. “Despite everything, we need to put an official note closing his file.”
“How about ‘good riddance’? Or ‘rest in pieces’? Yes, I like that.”
“You’re not being very helpful.”
Lester recognised that tone in her voice. He sighed, knowing that he was going to have to give in at some point. But he didn’t see why he should.
“Why don’t I write it instead?” Lorraine suggested. “You can just sign it.”
