Day 4 in Argentina and already it feels like I have been away forever. My Mom and I flew into Buenos Aires where I ahd purposefully not scheduled much time (cities not being my favorite place to vacation and having already seen all the big sites on a previous trip). Our hostel was perfect and we did a few things that are classic BA so can´t be missed. Then we embarked on a 22 hour bus ride...I know you´re thinking, that´s crazy, but unbelievably it wasn´t bad at all. I forked over the extra $20 for both of us to travel in the highest class (Argentina has a strict class system for bus travel). The seats fully recline into beds and there is full meal service including after dinner drinks (although I passed on the champagne and whiskey...not really my thing before trying to sleep) and movies galore to distract you from the fact that you´re spending 22 hours on a bus. Anyway we finally arrived in Bariloche and it is as beautiful as I remember. Today was our first full day and we did a cabalgata, or horse-riding excursion. Of course I got sunburned, but hey I´ll take it as proof that I really was outside in the sun, and I got to gallop, not quite to my heart´s content, but enough. I think the next adventure on the agenda will be kayaking...to be continued.
