I purchase the hat for him because he wants it. Badly. It has about twenty different grinning heads of Jack Skellington on the front. It's a second anniversary present and it is nothing compared to the one he
gives me. He's obsessed with Nightmare Before Christmas, and MGM (I refuse to call it Disney Hollywood Studios) has items from the movie gracing the shelves of several stores. I purchase anything he wants from these shelves. The hat is the first item placed in my hands.
Steve enters my parents backyard and is greeted with an enthusiastic "Hi Seve!" from a Yankee swimming-trunked Preston. He says hello and moves on to the rest of the family. When dad spots his new hat he grins wide like as if in recognition of the character.
"Oh!" he exclaims. "Ghost balls!"
After we laugh, I explain what they are and he's still smiling as if ghost balls are something very popular that no one knows about. I’m curious about the type of magazines my father might be reading.
