A long awaited date.

As soon as she left I was making calls. Wasn't gonna take her anywhere without a ride. Thought about a limo, problem with that someone else driving, big back seat we'd never get out of the car. My girl liked sports cars. That much I knew, so after making a couple calls I found a sleek silver Shelby. It was waiting for me outside by the time I got ( Read more... )

For the longest time she just stood staring in the mirror. It was just so....pink. The concierge service at the hotel had been a great help in acquiring a dress. The maid that brought her the dress even helped her lace it up as it was two pieces, a skirt and corset. At least that was more her style. Standing there she rest her hands on her stomach as if that gesture could calm the nerves rattling around.

She felt a little selfish. There was work to be done and here she was dressed up for a night on the town. If not now then when, when would she ever take the time for herself? In her head she battled with herself over what needed to be done and what she desperately wanted.

Leaving the dark waves down they fell over her shoulders and down her back. There were no jewels adorning her and hardly a drop of makeup on her face. She felt naked. Since he died she had lived in that latex suit and coat, the sword and guns at her side. With the weight gone and her skin exposed she felt very vulnerable.

The ringing of the phone made her jump a little. Picking it up she smiled when the receptionist told her she had a guest waiting in the lobby. "Thank you, I will be right down."

Moments later the elevator doors slid open and she stepped out. God she was nervous. Selene had never felt like this about being with him. Scared. Excited. It showed in her dark eyes. When she saw him she stopped walking, she could have sworn her heart did the same.

I didn't see her, first I smelled her. The second those elevator doors open her scent drifted right to me. I turned my head and looked at her, giving her a lopsided grin. Damn was she breath-taking. Sorta felt like it was prom night and my girl was dressed the part. But then again so was I.

Could just imagine peeling those gloves off with my teeth. Didn't have any flowers or a gift. No we were merely bringing ourselves, the best gifts we could bring each other tonight. Walking over to her I took her hand and pulled her close. Unable to resist anymore I pulled her in tightly and kissed her, not the little pecks I'd been giving her. But a full on kiss of tenderness and passion. It was a kiss that said I missed you.

Since they had first ran into each other he had not really kissed her. Nothing like this. Selene couldn't remember the last time someone had kissed her like that. Wrapping her hand around the back of his neck she played with his hair as her lips danced against his.

Pulling back she looked up at him, her cheeks glowing with heat. "Aren't you suppose to kiss me when you drop me off at my door at the end of the night?"

"Practice darlin', this was just practice."

I smiled against her lips and stroked her cheek softly, gazing into those beautiful eyes. She was breath taking. The smell, the feel, the taste of her. All of it was just intoxicating. I pulled her closer if that was possibly and buried my face in those curls. God I loved her like this.

"You look stunning."

Didn't care that we were getting looks, I had my woman in my arms again, they could all fuck off as far as I was concerned.

Pulling back I slid my arm between hers.

"Shall we?"

"I have missed you so much." She whispered against his skin as he buried his nose in her hair. Logan had a way of making her feel like she was the only woman in the world. At this point in her life she needed to feel like that more then she needed to breath.

Being in his arms chased away some of the pain and sorrow she felt.

Yes, that night at dinner with Adam and Danica had been rough. The part she remembered was speeding away on the back of his bike in her courture gown, then spending the night getting lost in each other and eating food from the diner.

"This look suits you. You are gorgeous." Her hands slid down the lapel of his jacket. "Lead the way."

"You don't have to miss me.. ever again."

I was taking a chance, one that could make me or break me. But it was a chance I had to take. Because living without her wasn't living. I didn't want to just exist anymore.

"Let's go."

smiling I walked her outside and nodded to the valet to go get my car I'd gotten for the night.

"Darlin', we both know I'm always gorgeous. But you are nothing short of a miracle."

I kissed her temple, keeping my arm around her. There wouldn't be a point from this moment on that she ever felt like she was alone. I was going to see to that.

"And if you have a flaw, it is your modesty." She teased. As they stood there waiting for the car Selene could not help but just stare up at him adoringly. The real miracle was after all she had done he was standing beside her. That he still gave a damn about her.

"Modesty? What's that?"

Grinning I nodded to the car as it was pulled up front and the kid brought the keys to me.

"Your chariot awaits darlin', hope you like it."

She knew it wasn't my style, but it was hers. The woman loved her sports cars.

Selene stepped closer to the car and slid her hand along the sleek curves. There was something about these sort of cars that struck her fancy. Small, sleek, beautiful, yet under the hood was a monster waiting to be unleashed. Glancing up at him she knew this was not his car. He had done this for her. It was sweet and she smiled knowingly at him. Though it made her wonder.

"What happened to the bike?" Selene had to kill a particularly nasty Lycan for that bike. She would be rather disappointed to find out if it had met a grizzly fate.

Her fingers wrapped around the handle and popped the door open. Slipping inside she smoothed the skirt over her legs. The color of the garment reflected in her eyes and she sighed. It was not so long ago that she and the fallen knight had a discussion about her colorless wardrobe. Taking a deep breath she looked up away from the girly dress and watched Logan. Time to put the sadness behind.

"It's in storage in Texas."

That was as far as I drove it before I found an old truck that someone needed to sell.

"Where's the dog?"

I was curious if she kept it or if something happened to the dog. Maybe Amelia or the boy toy had a problem with it. Couldn't see her letting them take that away from her though. She loved that little mutt.

"Rocco?" Selene smiled. That foolish pup kept her company on many lonely nights. He was the first to greet her at the door when she would return home from a night of hunting. Right behind him would be Lothoro looking unamused by being beaten in the chase by such a small, squatty thing. He would sniff at the ash and blood on her suit and snort through his nose, shaking his head and walking off until she got cleaned up. How she adored that dog.

"I am certain he is doing what he does best. Sleeping in the center of ou--my bed. My fat--" Again with the slip of words she should not say. This was harded then she thought. "Matayas is looking after him." Which was probably the funniest thing one might ever see. Rocco would chew his boots and lick his face, Matayas would stand over him looking very parental with his arms folded over his chest. You are indeed a furious beast, I give you that. Rocco would sit and whimper, looking up at the scowling man with those big brown eyes. Should we meet like this again pup, I will be forced to declare war. With a smile he would squat down and pat his head, then snatch his boot away.

"Probably not a puppy anymore."

I smiled, caught the little slips but I wasn't gonna even mention it. Tonight wasn't going to be ruined by them and if we got on a conversation about her family or her life with the coven that was exactly what it would turn into. A bad night. I rest my hand over hers and started to drive.

"At least you had something to remember me by."

Looking over at her I winked.

“You might like to tell him that. He certainly thinks he is still a puppy.”

Moving her hand a little she curled her fingers around his hand. Selene needed nothing to remember him by. He was etched in her mind for all time. Nothing could erase that. There was however something very personal and sacred he had given her. It was in the small clutch resting on her lap.

Taking her hand away she popped the small clasp open and reached inside. Taking hold of the chain in her fingers she pulled the silver colored tags out. Holding them up she looked them over. She had memorized the numbers etched in the metal. Placing the cool metal in the palm of his hand she curled his fingers around the tags.

“It seems I forgot to accessorize, would you mind...” Selene knew they meant a great deal to him. She laughed nervously. “..well when the car stops of course.”

"Seems he and I got a lot in common."

I glanced over at her and when I saw her take the tags out it hurt a little that she had ever taken them off in the first place. But I didn't show it, said I was letting the past go and I was.

"Of course."

At the next light I reached over and slipped it on her, watching the tag slide down her chest.

"Never looked better."

When the cold metal hit her skin she smiled. Her fingers brushed over it, feeling the letters beneath her finger tips like braile.

"I am sorry...that I took it off."

Selene remembered the day very well. She had been wearing a simple blouse, the chain peeking out just a bit. His finger slid along her collar as he pulled it out of the fabric. What is this? He had asked. Instinctivley she pushed his hand away and tucked the tag back under the fabric. Ah, I understand, he said. It was nothing he said but the way he looked at her. That night, alone in her room not his, she took it off and put it away. The rest of the night had been spent behind closed doors with her tears as company.

Even now as she toyed with the chain, absentmindedly staring out the car window, tears made her eyes shine.

"I've done worse."

That's all I was saying about it.

"We're starting over, the past doesn't matter anymore. Only what we do now does."

I brought her hand to my lips and kissed it. Didn't want to know why she took it off, ultimately I knew why but I didn't want to hear it. There were things we simply didn't need to share with each other. Her life with him and the things I'd been doing since her were in that category.

"No crying tonight darlin'."

I reached my hand up and caressed her cheek, my thumb dragging beneath her eye.
