Fic hilarity, embarassment, and updates

Greetings, flisters!
The other day Immortal Beloved posted a link to this utterly hilarious season 6 parody fic that she found on All About Spike. Seriously, it's hysterical. Go read and be amused. I was.

On the fic front - I've got a challenge response to respond to for
feedmykinkby July 29th, so that will be the next one-shot I'll be working on. It's a new pairing for me, William/Dru, which I'm kinda excited about. I do love Dru and I know it's going to be tough pegging down her dialogue, but I can't wait. After that's completed, I will be returning to All Wrong, which decided to grow a more complex plot while I wasn't looking.

So, I had a rather embarassing/amusing encounter regarding my latest story yesterday.

Both my mom and dad are aware that I write fanfic, and also know it is often of a rather pornographic nature. I've let them read my none-porny stories and I occasionally will ask their opinion about dialogue and wording. Growing up, I never had any friends who watched Buffy, so I used to watch it with my mom. She also went on to watch most of Angel after I lost interest. I had mentioned slash to her in passing, and she said that was interested in reading some Spangel, but didn't like the idea of Spike as submissive. I confess, I don't read a ton of slash, but I recommended two stories to her I really enjoyed. They were
shapinglight's  Prodigal Sons and
spankspike's Why I Come Back. When I was about to leave for work yesterday morning, she said that she had read them both and really enjoyed them, especially spankspike's gorgeous writing style.

Fast forward a few hours. I come home from work at around 6:45 and she's at the computer. She tells me that she was reading the comments to both stories and noticed that I had left a review as well. Out of curiosity, she clicked on my username and ended up at my journal where Drive it Home was prominently displayed at the top. She read it.

I stood there, my mouth hanging open, embarassed as all fuck. "You read it!?" I said, incredulously. My mom just smiled at me and said, "L, I loved it. It was amazing." Needless to say, mouth was still hanging open. "What? Really?" I asked, and she went on to explain what she liked so much about it. At one point she said, "I've been reading your writing since you were a little girl, but I think this might be the best thing you've ever written. I only wish you could bring as much insight and color to your journalism pieces." Well...what the heck do you say to that? While I would disagree that this is the best thing I have ever written, I am proud of it, and it's grown on me the last few days after re-reading it a couple of times. It sort of put me off at first while I was writing it, but with a bit of distance I've come to appreciate it. Also, this just cements in my mind that my mom actually rocks (which I knew), and I'm very glad she's supportive of my endevours. I suppose she had to expect something like this given the fact that as we were packing up my dorm room a few months ago she opened my drawer of sin, which had condoms, handcuffs, a dildo, and likely other sexual miscellany in it, turned to me and said, "I hope you don't expect me to pack this." *hides face* I really have to stop getting myself into these situations.
