Great google-moogle, Cat!

This is just outstanding work. I have to re-read and process to figure out how you did it, but I feel like this ficlet summarizes everything that was brilliant and amazing about Season 6. Before then, it seemed as though the show writers were always using violence as a metaphor for assertivness and responsibility. But in s6, it seemed as if they took a hard turn, and suddenly psychological release and catharthis became the major theme. I think that's why some fans had such a hard time with that season. Dzangerous, non-comforting sexuality is undiscovered country for the vast majority of people, but that kind of sex strikes at the heart of what makes us human, and tells as things about ourselves we'd prefer not to know, but need to hear. Anyway, this tale captures that arc in such stunning visceral detail. It's really an amazing scene and it smacks of truth (pardon the pun).

My big "wow" moment occurred to me about halfway through when I realized how natural and improvistational you made this event feel. It seems like many other kink-writers too often come up with totally far-out, outlandish ways of bringing their lovers together ("he licked his lips as he chained her to his $20,000 medieval torture rack"), but this felt like a very real, geniunely intense moment in the lives of two slightly-broken people. Real, non-catoonish kink is such a abstract and difficult place to explore - where sexuality intersects with the everyday and the mundane - and you manage to nail it to the freakin' wall every time out. Also, in terms of pure craftmanship, I thought you strcuk a superb balance between visual information with stream-of-conciousness. I saw AND felt the characters simlutaneously.

And I hate you, btw. I was gonna try to write a kink-fic, but once again you've set the bar impossibly high. You rat bastard.

I had a big doofus-y smile on my face when I read your comments at work this morning. I'm really glad you liked it and your comments were actually really insightful to read. I hadn't thought about the metaphor for violence like that before. Awesome food for thought.

And you know what? Who cares if I write kink? Try your hand at it. No one is judging you or comparing you. I would love to read your take on it. Don't feel intimidated by me!

I also had a really great time at dinner tonight. Thanks for the great company and discussion. You rock, my friend.

And here's an icon just for you.
