Man, this week was crap. My throat is still killing me. It could be the irritating, sooty air, or the dehydrating winds. Mostly I think it's just a bug I've been incubating. It started as a dry cough and a dull firey sensation in the back of my throat. The next day it was blindingly painful to swallow. I was tempted to swill vodka just to see if it killed some of the buggers if not my pain.

Lots of water, lots of noodles, lots of sleep, lots of huddling in bed to artificially simulate a fever. Now the mild discomfort of my swollen throat is masked by a phlegmy cough. Ooh bloody phlegm. Fun fun.

God, I haven't been this sick since I was a kid. But I have re-learned some powerful lessons:
-medicating with echinacea works for me (even if it's just a placebo!)
-if showering while weak from fever be prepared to sit for the rinse cycle
-doing an extra couple of reps of sit-ups will make for easier coughing fits later

Last Friday I dressed in a striped hitoe for a friend's cousin's Halloween party. Turns out some of kids were in high school. Why didn't I do that in high school?

I wanted to go to the MOCA exhibit on Murakami on the free Thursday, but I just wasn't better. I'm not well enough to have dumplings yet either, but I'm probably going to get dragged off tomorrow for tea service (I don't think I'll enjoy it). I think I'll shoot for Sakuran next week.
