I know this question is rhetorical, but I’d like to answer it.
At the going rate, “our grandchildren”, be they biological or generational, are going to have every reason to resent us. We are booming the world population at alarming rates, and an issue like abortion remains a bone of contention? When “our grandchildren” are facing devastating famine, rampant economic failure and permanently depleted natural resources, they’ll be at their siblings’ throats anyway, so I suppose we could simply view abortion as a preemptive strike. Most right wingers can get behind that terminology.
Personally, here’s my stance: it’s none of my goddamned business. If every pro-lifer would offer up foster care for all these kids nobody is willing or able to take care of, fine, let the babies have their bottles. But I find it pretty fucking silly that the same people who embrace the death penalty and damn public welfare programs are the same ones who get all sanctimonious over abortion. It’s all a little too convenient for my money.
