KMM #34 recs!

I signed up for the Kink Me Merlin Rec Challenge at merlin_hotrecs!
I pledge to read five KMM fills and rec one by May 1st.

"I'd like to read for once where Merlin is the one keeping their relationship secret in order to protect his job or mother or whatever. And finally Arthur is hurt and fed up and breaks things off and once Merlin sees him with another man (my choice is Gwaine) he can't stand it and must have him back.."
This one hurt me. Coming out fics are mostly Arthur coming out, but this one has Merlin in the closet (like canon!) because of his profession, and it eventually gets too much for Arthur and they break up. What I liked about this is that I felt terrible for Arthur but I could also understand where Merlin was coming from. A relationship where one is out and the other is not, is never cut-and-dry. Lovely fic that gets updated quite frequently.

"Arthur's friends regularly organize Black Out parties...parties where you're meant to not only get black out drunk, but where all the lights will go out for some random interval during the evening and you're supposed to feel your way around in the darkness until you claim some unknown person to hook up with. Merlin isn't part of Arthur's crew, but he gets dragged to the party by Gwen who's just started dating Arthur's BFF Lancelot. Merlin doesn't know what's going on when all the lights go out, but Arthur has conveniently situated himself near Merlin to make his move under the consequence-free cover of darkness."
Arthur's the closeted one in this fill, but he's very endearing (hee) and has taken advantage of the black-out party to get close to Merlin, and then they take things to the toilet. :D That's about it, and as with everything from this author the characterizations are quite lovely.

(Merlin/Arthur, updated to part 3 so far)
"Modern 'Courtship' Rituals. Arthur, has been returned from his rest in Avalon for over a year now, and he is proud to say that he seems to have adapted modern life fairly quickly. He's figured out the ins and outs of living in the 21st century and has taken time along the way to properly mourn both Camelot and Gwen. But now? He's at the point in his new life that he's ready to start considering what he wants for his future. And the rules of modern romance aren't helpful so much as downright contradictory or confusing. How does a former mideviel king court a 1000+ year old sorcerer anyway?"
Okay, the prompt speaks for itself, lol. This is pretty cracky. Very enjoyable! I hope the author updates again soon.

"Arthur is at some kind of team building event with his firm and at one point they're supposed to write a nice message on the back of their business cards and send them out on a balloon for a stranger to find it. Only, at that point, Arthur is already slightly drunk and he thinks the chances of someone actually finding it are pretty slim. So, because he finds the whole ordeal stupid and childish, he just writes something snarky and sends the balloon away. To his surprise, he soon gets an e-mail from a stranger (Merlin) who has found his message and complains about having looked forward to finding such a message ever since he was a child, only to get one from the biggest prat alive.Cue snarky e-mail relationship slowly building up to romance."
