more pedantry, but this time, less petty

Dear bad fic that I can't seem to stop reading,

Someone who got their doctorate in education would not be a professor of english lit. That's not how that works. The only people with doctorates of education in a university will be researching and teaching in that field. A PhD in education is not a prerequisite for a position at a university.  Second! Professors are not high school teachers. They teach classes, yes, but they are primarily researchers. There are some exceptions to this, but not at a research university, and not within the university of California and certainly not at UCLA or Cal. Third, anyone lucky enough to get a tenure-track position right out of school, without even having to do a post-doc, is not going to end up as head of the department. Four, you actually do need a PhD to get hired into a department at a four year university. Five, because this cannot be stressed enough, one would NOT become a professor at a university, especially not at, say, UCLA, in order to escape doing research. Research is not optional.

(Bonus six: your idea of women and sexual politics are extraordinarily regressive and gross but haven't yet crossed over into being explicit enough that I can rage click away.)

Help. Someone save me from the badfic.
