Frodo opened his eyes, and this time, instead of Gandalf and Sam by his side, there sat a tall Elf, one who looked familiar to him but one whose face he could not place.

"Good morning, Ringbearer," the Elf said.

Frodo smiled. "What--" he started. "Who are you?"

"I am Elladan," the Elf said, bowing. "The lord Elrond and company arrived last night. I wanted to look upon your face and to touch your hand, to honor you who saved Middle-earth."

Frodo blushed until his cheeks burned. "Oh, but I do not want special honor at all. I just want--"

"To go home. I know," Elladan said. "And you shall. But tomorrow you will see why Aragorn made you wait for so long."

Frodo smiled, and Elladan took his hand.

"Like glass," he said under his breath. "But still so much light."
