"...this area is strictly out of bounds to everybody except the tea lady and the Brigadier's personal staff?"
"I'm your new assistant!"

My favorite bit is Three's line right after. "Oh no!". LOL. Tactful. I think she's the only companion other than Leela who he outright said he didn't want as a companion (but they came along for the ride anyway coz they awesome).

I think the Master's TARDIS just materialized as...a...dude...with...a cane...in mid-air...what.

Maybe this is where Romana's statement in City of Death about Time Lords being able to fly, but prefer not to as it would be too ostentatious, comes from. XD

I really hope Jo gets out of that hypnosis soon, because this really isn't a good way to introduce a new companion.

It actually has a bit of Fridge Brilliance to it but doesn't become clear till you get to Delgado!Master's final serial. Won't give away spoilers but basically it shows how much stronger she's become when she pwns him in a way only Jo could do. Character development ftw. ^_^

"Doctor, stop being childish."
"What's wrong with being childish? I like being childish."
Somehow, Tom carries that a lot better than Jon.

Coz it's two different types of 'childish'. When Tom says it, it's coz he's just being silly in an "oh Four" way. Three is essentially throwing the Time Lord equivalent of a 2 year olds tantrum which is jarring with his authoritative character(he kicked Sexy...@_@). He's actually a lot crankier on this season as a whole, picking fights with almost everyone, which I just put down to not being able to time travel being the equivalent for him of sexual frustration. XD He does mellow though, which I like to put down to Jo's influence softening. Similar to Rose helping Nine through his PSTD.

"Jo, it's a pity escapology wasn't part of your curriculum."
"Funny you should say that: look."
FREE HANDS!

PLOT CONVENIENCE FAIRY! ^_^ Actually, this is probably the only remnant of Jo's original character design as a 'kickass spy girl', but the PTB liked Katy's clumsy audition so much that they changed her into more of a clumsy but well-meaning ditz. Personally I love her as she is but I can see that pissing some fans off.

Get used to it, Doctor. He'll be around even through your tenth incarnation.

Not to mention as netari said above, he's in every single story for season 8. 0_0 This did get a bit; "Oh fuck, not him again," first time I saw it ngl.

AND I HATE THAT LITTLE AUTON DOLL! KILL IT WITH FIRE!! /fear of creepy dolls? Never.

Technically, Four also rejected everyone in pre-Team-Fivey in Logopolis when he does his "I never choose my own company" rant. But yeah, it's a lot more direct and meaningful here.

You mean Jo's nursery rhymes? It's okay, I already know about that (and seen the clip; it was awesome.)

Yeah, Four had already displayed a great deal of his own brand of childishness in his first serial alone, so I take your point with Three.

I love Jo, too. I honestly don't get where a lot of the negativity comes from (although I expect I'm going to find out soon enough because I've got a lot of Three to go through.) Heck, I even gave up on The Raggedy Podcast despite multiple recommendations because they called her "a dumb bimbo" 2 minutes into their first episode. (I guess this also exemplifies my weird devotion to The Happiness Patrol because they've dealt Adric worse blows but I still listen to them.)

Well, I knew going in that this was going to me The Master Season, so I'll see how it holds up considering I know exactly what I'm getting into. Plus, I'm REALLY looking forward to The Daemons.

Ah, yes. Which is true for the most part; though I swear he is the one who invited Vicki and Dodo into the TARDIS. And, ironically, tried to swoon Jo into being a proper travelling companion with that whole "I'm offering you all the time in the world." speech (but he didn't have a high enough persuasion level :P).

Yep, that one. It's one of my favorite companion moments - she basically beats him by annoying him into giving up. ^_^ Even his evil theme tune gives up when he does!

I think the problem with Jo is that she's overshadowed by Sarah Jane who everyone remembers as the 'perfect companion'. What I find ironic though is that while Sarah Jane starts off her run as a badass, no-nonsense independent reporter - by the end of her run with Four she gets captured or hypnotised, needing the Doctor to save her, waaaaay more than Jo ever did. Jo is always a bit of a ditz but, like Jamie, she's resourceful and she does try her best. She does get in a bit of trouble in her first serial but no more than Three who I think only has one episode in his entire tenure where he isn't held prisoner or tortured. :P

It's probably not so bad if you know what you're getting into. And yes - The Daemons. Is. Awesome. ^_^ I do like Mind of Evil too, it's probably one of the few stories where I can say that being in black and white seems to work for it.
