About the Doctor so often specifying that he's not a doctor of medicine, although he obviously has medical experience -- I've always thought that's because he's a more general scientist. My father had a medical degree, but was more of a scientist and professor. ...And that probably makes nothing clearer, but it's what I can figure out. :-/

I guess that would make sense...

I will try to keep this reply short-ish, but it's hard for me when it comes to this serial. mstieforlife April 11 2011, 00:23:28 UTC
-Benik is probably my favourite character, even though he's the biggest slimeball ever. He and Salamander have the most head canon and, though they've turned rather domestic lately, most of it isn't very nice to Benik. Mostly because he's a jerk ( ... )

Considering the icon and the enthusiasm for this serial, I can only assume this is person-of-pasta? :D

GRIFF. HOW DID I FORGET ABOUT GRIFF. I wish he'd had more screentime! He's probably the best comic relief character I've seen in black-and-white Classic Who.

I actually have the audio version, so I'll be checking that out one of these days.

POLITICAL PUPPIES.

Earthquakes, volcanoes, and porn. Somehow I can see how that would go together...

I'm trying to remember who it was, probably Nilamarthiel, who had a picture of Fariah as a Picture That Makes You Sad for her 30 Days of Who a while back for that exact reason.

Also, no problem. I tend to get at least on long post like this every few commentaries.

(Short, as in Two can't use Jamie as a defense anymore.)
Well, since she clearly nicked one of Jamie's kilts in this one (she's definitely wearing a female version of his usual attire), he sort of could. :P

("In the cockpit, Victoria clings to Jamie for dear life.") CANON-CLING.
His pained expression plays well with his already established airsickness, and it's one of the things that puts the helicopter scene from The Invasion in a different perspective.

I still don't understand why the Doctor keeps saying he's not a doctor of medicine when he clearly has a good amount of medical expertise.
And he did say in The Moonbase that he studied Medicine with Joseph Lister (name-dropper).

You can still hear him trying to master the accent and everything oh my godThis shows just how much of a genius Pat was. The only reason why the studio scenes were filmed out of order for this one (unusual at this point of the show's history) was because he had to apply some fake tan to play Salamander, otherwise I have a feeling he'd be able to jump ( ... )

The Invasion...holy crap, when I stop to think about it, I'm not that far away from that serial. I ONLY HAVE ABOUT 7 TROUGHTON SERIALS LEFT WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN. *glances over at the Invasion and War Games DVDs on my shelf*

Yeah, that particular name-drop surprised me. As Polly pointed out, you'd think he would've picked someone a little more (for lack of a better word) "modern" for his medical studies.

I noticed the credit consistency when I watched the surviving episode (which, incidentally, aired nearly a quarter-century to the day before I was born.)

THIS IS TRUTH. *fist shake*

Oh Jack, you're one of those people who's a built-in excuse, aren't you?

It's this story Pat reminds me anonymous April 12 2011, 02:04:37 UTC
of all the other roles he's played, most notably the one I actually *saw*, that being Sinbad and The Eye of The Tiger. -Arcalian
