"Valeyard, somehow I don't think chuckling evily after Six accuses you of tampering with the matrix is going to help your case."

Actually, I think that was meant to come off as a disdainful/disbelieving laugh.

"Ahh, so I guess Mel sticking with Glitz in Dragonfire does have a little something to substantiate it after all: they'd met before, here.

(I know that's a weak defense, but it's more prior contact than most companions have before they jump ship to get married.)"

I may be misreading you here, but it was never even implied that Mel was going to marry Glitz. Just hang around and nag him as resident conscience. As you saw in Ten Docs.

""We just stepped through a door, that's all!"
"Into the matrix, where the only logic is...that there isn't any logic.""

Again, the full explanation of the Matrix is in Deadly Assassin, but you get a taste here.

"I just realized: Glitz might be the closest thing Six ever gets to a male companion. He doesn't even have one in the audios."

In the 90s Novels, Six gained a companion called Grant Markham, in the books 'Time of your Life' and 'Killing Ground'. We never got to see how he turned out, except for one fanfic story. In some ways he was a prototype Fitz, and in some ways not.

"RUN, Master and Glitz! RUN from the evil man cackling and throwing exploding quill pens at you!"

I've gotta say, I enjoyed the Master/Valeyard rivalry here, especially the Valeyard calling out the Master's trap (albeit in cringeworthy Pip and Jane dialogue). This was also the moment when I realized that Popplewick senior actually was the Valeyard.

"Uh oh, something's draining the color in the Master's TARDIS and making everyone speak in Pig Latin! (I think!)"

Glitz: What's happening?
Master: An amortipher!
Glitz: Limbo atrophier?! *gets slammed into wall*

Basically, the Master realized too late that the Valeyard left a trap for him.

This may be my longest post on your blog, evarrrrrr.

I think just knowing that the Valeyard was the villain made it sound like an evil laugh to me.

I still haven't seen Dragonfire yet, but from what I've heard about the ending I still lump Mel in the category of "companions who leave because of another man" even if they didn't actually get married.

Grant Markham...don't think I've ever heard of him.

The specific relationship between the Master and the Valeyard felt pretty muddled to me until the Master finally spelled it out to Six and Glitz in his TARDIS. Maybe that was intentional...

Ah. I was going to go back and watch that again with the subtitles on, but it was getting late and I was "behind schedule" enough as it was.
