General News

So this past Tuesday was Doctor Who Day! I spent it going to a real doctor, going to class, sleeping, and traveling. Fun. But at least Tumblr kept me entertained with its endless stream of Who-goodness (when I could get internet). Did you guys do anything special for the 47th anniversary?

(I really don't understand the point of Thanksgiving Break if our professors still give us homework. Technically, that's what I should be doing right now, but I'm about to finish up a podcast script that's due for a class tomorrow so I figured I'd do this as a warm-up to get the juices flowing.)

So I thought I was about halfway done with The Safe House, but then I realized that the next scene I'm going to write will probably wind up taking up its own chapter (the way I did my outline for this, it's tricky to tell just by glancing over how long everything will be. For instance, my notes for chapter 1 originally included the events of chapter 2, but now it just says "TARDIS arrives. Fivey and co. start exploring.") Maybe I'm almost halfway done, and I can't thank you guys enough for your enthusiasm and support. You are all wonderful people :D

Audio Dramas

Oh hey, this section's back! Yup, I took advantage of Big Finish's Mad November Sale last night and nabbed myself 7 more audios (although I don't understand why Bride of Peladon and Forty-Five are more expensive than the others): The Sirens of Time (which I've listened to already, but now I actually own it), Spare Parts (AT LAST. I've heard so many great things about this one, but I'm holding off listening to it until I've watched The Tenth Planet), Bloodtide (SIX AND EVELYN!), Jubilee (Rob Shearman! And MORE SIX AND EVELYN!), Davros, Master, and Forty-Five. I ignored Sword of Orion and The Chimes of Midnight because I have those already and passed up The Bride of Peladon because I didn't want my first Erimem story to be her last.

I started listening to Davros on the plane back to school this morning and...um, wow. You know how sometimes people say that in the Whoniverse, canon is crackier than fanon? This might be one of those times.

- A major corporate dude revives Davros just so he can employ him in his company.
- This dude's wife may or may not be a little too fascinated by Davros.
- Six wakes up for work and (I think) puts on a tie, complete with a little secretary voice in his ear that gets him toast.
- He and Davros have to work together. In a company.
- Six has Davros make him tea.
- Six has Davros make him tea.
- DAVROS. TEA.

Okay, so the whole thing isn't as cracky as it sounds (it's not quite as cracky as Omega), but it has some...interesting moments. There's also plenty of serious moments that remind me that I should get my mitts on the I, Davros series at some point. When something about the past makes Davros call himself "an ordinary man," it has to be something worth checking out.

Upcoming Commentaries

Hiatus is looking likely, due to a pile-up of work in the coming week (have I mentioned that I really don't like Gravity's Rainbow?). I was hoping to do The War Machine over break, but that fell through. That will most likely be next serial, unless I decide to do another Special next.
