General News: Shameless Plug Edition
The latest edition of The Terrible Zodin is out, about triple the usual length (104 pages! No wonder they were having technical difficulties putting it together), and featuring LOTS of discussion on the Wilderness Years novels (mostly New Adventures, but MAs and PDAs make their way in as well.
nentari, you might be interested to know that there's an article on Fitz in there too), lots 'o Cybermans, and some Adric art by moi.
Oh, and I spruced up an old Fivey sketch from over the summer. Looks much better now.

deviantART Also, I started writing The Safe House the other day.
Right now, I've only got 2 pages done, and I probably would've done more today if I hadn't been so consistently tired (and hadn't had Hebrew homework to finish), but a journey of a thousand words starts with a single letter. Plotwise, they've only just got out of the TARDIS and the surrounding forest and will be coming up on the house fairly shortly. I don't seem to have any major writing assignments coming up on my schedule (fingers crossed), so hopefully I'll be able to chisel away at this a little every day (ideally, I'd like to do at least a page a day. The finished product will probably be about 5-6 chapters long)
Something I've noticed about my writing lately is my tendency to go about creating vivid descriptions by characterizing everything. For instance, in the paragraph of them trundling through the woods
(which you can read here), the torches flashlights almost have dialogue (also, that thing with Adric and Tegan and Sleepy Hollow will make sense in context). Maybe this is a new thing budding in my writing style as a way of making up for my fondness of writing character and dialogue over describing environments, but it was a fun thing to notice.
Now that I'm done pimping myself...
Audio Dramas
I listened to the specials Cuddlesome (which is naturally quite horrifying) and Cryptobiosis yesterday as things-to-listen-to-while-I-edit-an-entry-here-or-make-an-arting. Cuddlesome was one of those weird Fivey stories where you don't know where/how it could fit into canon because he's companionless. Still, I loved that the woman who followed for this adventure was straight-thinking and no-nonsense and got the last line of the story: asking him for a cuddle. Cryptobiosis was the first Six/Peri audio I've heard and I liked both of them in it. It starts off with the usual bickering of "you said you were taking us somewhere NICE, Doctor" and leads into Peri getting very involved with the main conflict while Six tries to be, well, the Doctor. I'd almost say that my new favorite character trait of Peri's is her love of children. I'm not sure why I'm endeared by this, as I'm not particularly fond of little kids myself, but Peri's reactions to everything involving the mermaid and her baby tugged at my heartstrings a bit.
Also, I've been hearing buzz about the New Who audio Dead Air winning an award recently, so I got that off iTunes the other day to see how it fares (but seriously, wouldn't it cut down on torrenting a LOT if Big Finish made the audios available on iTunes? It's just so much EASIER).
Upcoming Commentaries
I was planning on having The Myth Makers finished before I posted this, but tiredness, homework, anxiety attacks, and being eaten by the internet (again) wound up hindering me. As awake as I am right now, I could totally do the next episode after I finish this, but it's late and I'm already looking at 5 hours of sleep, so tonight I'm going to take my well-being over my geekery. However, I don't have one of my morning classes tomorrow so there's a larger gap between that and my afternoon class, so maybe I'll get to finishing it then. Then after that...Daleks' Master Plan. Unless I do a LOT of watching this week, I wouldn't expect any commentaries postings between now and my next Weekly Update. This is going to be a long haul, but epic...
