Whatever tickles your fancy: A message from the First Doctor
This was a curious little note I found as a DVD-ROM readme.txt file on the DVD for The Web Planet, the disk that includes a .PDF of the very first Doctor Who Annual:
Ah, hmmm. There you are. Yes. I am Doctor Who and I have left this message to tell how you can read about some of my most magical and memorable adventures in time and space.
The secrets of my travels are normally kept within the diary in my ship, TARDIS, but thanks to superheated steam technology invented by Atlantean scientists, you can access them in the form of a PDF. Which, um, hmmm yes, is a .... erm ..... Port... , erm, Personal Data Fumbibulator - yes, that is it! Using the great power within my ring to harness light rays from the moons of Vortis, I have unlocked the formula.
In order to translate the information you will need to have a PDF reader (Such as Adobe Acrobat or Reader) installed on your computer, yes - that much is clear.
I must go now to continue my experiments and travels throughout the galaxy. One day I shall come back, yes, one day. That I firmly believe. Hmm. Yes. Farewell my friends!

On a related note, I've decided to do The Happiness Patrol next after all. I was hoping to do 2 episodes tonight, but I got started really late and I REALLY DO need to get sleep tonight. Running a LARP with 9-12-year-olds tomorrow evening, not to mention all the prep left to do, and I'm getting up at 7:30. But you know what? I'm getting paid to write about fairies and mysterious towns and dolls that steal the souls of sick children and then run around in the woods playing with swords and magic, and that is awesome.
