Live from Pittsburgh
Only about 4 hours to go til the Super Bowl kicks off! I tell ya, you can't go anywhere and not see Black and Gold. It really gets ya in the spirit. One of the Radio stations here (105.9 FM) has refused to play any bands from Seattle. Joe's mom, Joe and I went to Kings (a local chain restaurant) and they were selling brownies with little frowns on them. The whole promotion was a Seattle pity party. It was great. Everybody's wearing something Steelers.
Joe's mom got four tickets through her company for yesterday's home Penguins game. Joe's sister got a friend to go and of course Joe and I went. Everyone was either wearing Pens gear or Steelers, and I actually think there was more Steelers stuff. At one point someone started the "Here we go Steelers" chant. The energy is best described as electric, you can't help but get caught up in it. The Pens lost in the second overtime but it was a great game. My throat started hurting so much from yelling and cheering. The Pens lost in score only, they outplayed the Islanders both in skill and in shots attempted. The one really horrible part was the refs, they missed so much.
I had hoped to stop somewhere and get a Terrible towel but we didn't make it to a Mall yesterday and I very much doubt Joe will be pulled away from the TV until it's time to leave. I'd go but a) we brought Joe's stick shift car and I can't drive stick and b) I don't drive here...I have no idea where I'm going and to be frank, some of the drivers here scare me.
Joe's been watching pregame stuff since 11:30. If one show goes to commercial he switches to another. It's addicting and it makes the excitement esculate.
