Hey, y'all!
Sorry it's been a while, but things like this come and go.
I'm already missing this year's Seniors, as I always do at this time. And I am already looking forward with relish toward next year's group. Sorry to say for all the other years, but you have to admit if you know them that this next year's third years are just out of this world! Folusho, the Jeremys, Alex, Heather, the Brooksies and all the other great Latin IIs that set school records on this year's NLE. Yeah! I'm a bit overwhelmed with things to plan over the Summer, though. Three fifth-year students (yay!) will need some guidance better than the fifth years that I have had before if the program is to continue to progress. The fourth years--I have to find out some way to support these great students better than this past year. This year's fourth years deserved better on the AP curriculum, although I gave it about all I had. You live, you learn! I am really surprised the number of second years I will have. I thought that I was a bit rough in the third term, but these are tough kids, I guess.
The new year will have some new challenges. WSHS has asked me to do the Critical Thinging class again as a sixth period. We host the Regional Latin Forum again. We are going to States, of course. I'm hoping for a big year with Kirstie, Ryan and Jeremy at the lead of the Brain Bowl. I'm going to work with Jeremy's mom at the Chinese School with Saturday SAT classes. And with help, I'll be hosting a financial information night in the Fall. Busy year!
But I know that the kids will lead the way on things like Homecoming and Regionals. They are always asking what they can do to help, so I'm thrilled.
And with the influx of new students due to the rezoning, lots of teachers are going to float. That's the main reason that I said that I would teach the Critical Thinking class. Six periods. If they float me, I'll quit! No, I'll just reason with them.
Summer in New York after the Summer SAT class. I'm so looking forward to having almost all of the Summer to do what I want. Libraries, museums, Central Park, Little Italy, Chinatown, shopping, Broadway. The Big Apple.
I hope YOUR Summer looks as good.
