Zomg Alma is amazing. I adore him as cute child and as a super-scary (and super hot) Akuma. I adore him for the angst he brings Kanda, for the adorableness he has with Allen, and for (let's all be honest here) being kinda gay. It's the closest D.Gray-man's ever come to coming out of the closet.

He also, in a way, explains why Kanda actually almost tolerates Lavi. They're both obnoxious and happy and crazypants. If Kanda had been there for Lavi going all murderous on his bestie in the Ark, he would have had some flashbacks, even.

In short: Alma is amazing for giving me a new pairing to ship and for reinforcing an old one. And for being pretty. I may steal your amazing icon. Just to look at.

I long for volume 21. It should be coming out here in Germany just before I head back to the States and I am buying it. I am buying it so hard. (When you're studying a foreign language, even things like reading manga, watching tv, and playing video games count as studying so long as they're in the target language. Best major ever? I think so.) Then, when I get back to the US, I'm buying in English. And all shall know that I am a fangirl. because the stack of doujin isn't enough of a clue

And omg why did I never think of OT4 + Alma? It's only the most obvious pairing ever because Kanda and Allen are already Alma fangirls and he could totally get in touch with his feminine side with Lena, and he and Lavi can... be book nerds together? They'll figure it out. I must add this to my masterlist of DGM pairings /has too many.

And holy jesus crackers, Alma's tail and eyebrows are amazing. Hoshino was really layering on the fanservice when she came up with Alma.

Haha. I have the Japanese 21 mostly because I couldn't wait ever for it. Thank goodness for Seattle's Kinokuniya. <3 The English probably won't have the gorgeous color image of Alma, though. Makes me sadface.

Speaking of doujin there need to be more for this pairing.

WHY DIDN'T YOU they're so amazing together. Plus IMO all the OT4 have issues with speaking their romantic feelings for one reason or another, and Alma just kind of... kicks them into getting it together and THEY ARE SO CUTE WHEN THEY ALL CUDDLE TOGETHER and Kanda makes bitchfaces and Allen's like "Shut up" and for some reason my Akuma!Alma muse purrs so there's always this kind of motorboaty noise in the background because he's just SO HAPPY TO BE LOVED <3

100% agree with your OT4 + Alma interpretation. Those four are some of the dumbest teenagers I ever did meet and by god are there dumb teenagers. And holy god yes, Akuma!Alma should purr and cuddle lots. I have secret hopes that Alma will be all, "JK! NOT DEAD YAY!" and then he and Kanda can go around saving Lavi and Allen and then grabbing Lenalee and they can all ride off into the sunset and send nice postcards to characters we approve of, like Link and Marie and Komui.

I looked and I found a whole ONE doujin with Alma and Kanda. An AU where Alma didn't go crazy and is an exorcist alongside Kanda. Doesn't look too exciting, but I may buy it someday just on principle. But it's not for sale on the website anymore so I'd have to make puppy eyes at someone to find it or hope that it'll be sold on ebay.
