What is Fandom Coming Too?

Anyhow, anyone who follows my Twitter knows my life has gone to shit. Nervous breakdown, complaints against school being dismissed, false allegations made against me, unable to get a new job, and not paid since November last year. Outside of my beloved bf and my family, my solace comes from my friends, both online and offline.

I find it highly offensive and unbelievably rude for someone to come onto a person's private LJ page to attack and abuse them. If this is an example of the level of maturity and professionalism on Torchwood forum, I'm very glad I stopped visiting their eons ago.

Oh yes, that comment. Well yes, you were a bitch. You cautioned me for replying to you because you wanted to get the last word in. I answered some claims that you made, and I was warned. And now mim does the exact same thing as me, and doesn't get warned, just slapped on the wrist.

Hey, I can't remember everything. I'm not the one stamping my feet because someone said they didn't like something. The impression that is coming across on TWA is "do not speak ill of RTD or MD or you shall feel the wrath of the admin/mods". Also, I wasn't the one who made it personal - that, I believe, was mim.

Really, I explained my choice regarding MD, and then in the thread about why people weren't going to watch I found myself being attacked for my choice. That thread was created so people could speak about it WITHOUT being attacked, which shouldn't occur anyhow as it is against the forum rules.

Well, ruthyf, until you came and "outed" yourself by commenting, many people people reading this journal probably no idea who the OP might be referring to.

I know I didn't.

As I read the initial entry I commiserated with clarissani, because I've seen the "Opinion Wars" go nuclear in many fandoms. People dispense with reciprocal civility and just start flinging feces.

It's a sad truth that, when we find people who share some of our interests, we tend to think that they are alike us in many many ways - and it's often jarring to be reminded that they're not.
