Most of you may not have been aware, but a year ago my Nana was diagnosed with cancer of the liver. Being a fiercy independent woman, she decided she would fight on despite it being untreatable, and thus continued to live on her own going about her everyday life. She was in and out of hospital for operations to keep her liver functioning, but remained strong.
Three weeks ago, after feeling ill for some time and in a great deal of pain she was convinced by some of my relatives (my aunts) that she needed to go to hospital and was taken there via ambulance. Since that time she quickly deteriorated, weakening fast. On Saturday they upped the amount of drugs so she would no longer feel pain, but unfortunately she no longer recognised anyone. All her children remained close by her side - I had to stay where I am due to work so I could not visit, and my mother told me that there was nothing I could do.
My Nana died this morning at 7am.
