Rant Time: Victorian Certificate of Education ENTER Scores
The ENTER score is life and death for some Year 12 students here in Victoria, and an hour ago they released them. Yeap, I'm online at 8am in the morning. Scary, I know. Anyway, Stalker of Shadows received her ENTER score an hour ago and wasn't happy with it. This score could determine what university she can get into, and while it isn't bad, I am kinda ticked off.
Now, anyone who knows Stalker of Shadows will know she is a bloody good artist to the point it is scary. Anyway, she is doing all art subjects (save English which everyone must do), and art subjects are what are deemed 'mark down'. In that, when the ENTER score is calculated, any score coming from art subjects loses a couple of points and means less. However, if you are doing Maths or some of the Sciences, the reverse is true - your mark goes up. And this year they made English mark down.
Basically, Stalker of Shadows got good marks, but her ENTER is sucky. And a Maths or Science student who has lower marks will receive a higher ENTER. And anyone with brains will tell you that the Arts are the hardest subjects to complete, while the Maths/Sciences are easier. I believe it. Drama was a bitch and Pyschology was a breeze when I did VCE (although they made Psychology a mark down the year I did it)
