My accident

Okay, so all of you are going to find out eventually and I don't want to tell you all individually, so here goes.

On the retreat, we went on a low ropes course, as well as a team building course.

The ropes course was awesome. I had the best group ever. We were the most enthusastic, supportive, amazing group out of the two groups. However, Zach had the brilliant idea to wrap his legs around the pole at the end of one of the obstacles and made everyone else do it. Well, when I did, my inner thighs hit the corners of the pole (it was a square wooden pole), and now I have 2 bruises (one on each leg) the size of golf balls.

Then on the team building course, we did a bunch of fun stuff. We did a balancing thing, where we had to get everyone on this teeter-totter type thing and keep it balanced while singing "Row, Row, Row your boat". Then we did a giant spider's web, which I definitely kicked ass in because I figured out a way to get through that no one else would've thought of. THEN came the "river crossing". We had to swing on a rope from a wooden plank to a platform about 10-20 feet away. I was second to last to go. First time across, I didn't quite make it and twisted my arm and felt my muscle pull in an uncomfortable fashion. But I was determined to get across, so I went at least 10 times. Everyone, including the guy supervising, said that I was close enough and that I should probably stop if I'm going to hurt myself. The last time across, I fell, twisted the wrong way while falling, scraped my left forearm, hit the outside of my right arm and also strained the muscles in that arm. I stopped after that. I climbed up onto the platform and burst into tears. I don't know if it was because it physically hurt, I was upset that I didn't make it across, or both. On our way to dinner, the advisor of SHAC walked with me and was like "I'm really proud of you. You gave it everything you had. Honestly, I don't think I've ever seen anyone show that much perserverence." And went on about the lesson it taught. But yeah, so if I'm not walking funny, I'm having problems reaching or carrying things. So yeah. That's my story.

Aside from getting hurt, though, it was the best time I've had since being here.
