rising to meet the challenge

There are those moments where you will either succeed brilliantly or fail horrendously. I recently had a moment like that and have been so excited to have done well.

At navy volleyball practice we were playing a rally score scrimage to thirty. In rally score a point is scored every play, regardless of who is serving. The important thing to note here is that if you shank a serve into the net or out of bounds you not only lose possession but they get a point as well.

We were playing a three vs. three and the score was 29 (them) and 22 (us). We'd just won a play and gotten possession putting us at 22 and giving us the serve. Guess who was up to serve? Me. With how tall I am my overhand serve is dynamite because it cuts down hard, but every once in a while I cut it into the net. You have to win my two so I know that to win we must get nine in a row. My first six serves are either aces or their bump sends the ball sailing out of bounds. The seventh they return it, I dig it, and we set up a spike which scores tying the game. I then serve two more aces to win us the game. It was awesome.

Today I started a mutual fund Roth IRA which is nice. I'm looking forward to watching it grow. I will not let myself and Tovah be those old people working and worrying about money. Heck, if I make career of the navy I can retire with officer pension at forty one.
