think of something cool (don't forget who's taking you home)

The dreaded I-can't-be-bothered-to-think-of-segues list:

+I have completed and turned in all forty-one projects required in Florida's Alternative Certification Program in order to get a five-year professional teaching certificate. All but two of these projects have been graded and passed as demonstrated with all criteria acceptable. The final two will hopefully be graded some time this week, as the grader is going on vacation in July and is trying to finish everything before that.

+I have emailed the person in charge of the ACP in my county to ask what I need to do next, assuming my last two projects are fine. She's a complete and total slacker and never gets back to anyone, so I may need to call her every five minutes. And, hey, that's not a problem, 'cause school's out, baby. I also need to know if they're going to demand an extra $150 for the third year of the program, even though I finished in two. I'm betting they will. That's okay. A total of $600 is way better than spending thousands on completely useless classes on how to compose a bulletin board.

+Matt just pointed out that my cat is on the ottoman, twitching her paws, feet, and tail. I hope she's having wonderful kitty dreams about chasing birds and mice across a field.

+I spent an hour and a half just now on AIM with my Dad fighting to get the his old PDA to sync up with my mac. And then installed the all-important crossword puzzle database. Someone shoot me now.

+Next up is trying to pull entries from my address book into Notetaker so that I can have a notebook with To Do Lists and Addresses to keep me together. There is also evidently a script that sends Notetaker entries to the blog-client ecto. So I dl'd ecto to see if I could get it to work with livejournal and my icons. I don't think it will. I may have to look into writing scripts and see if I can cobble one together that will take a Notetaker entry, paste it into iJournal, and then wait for me to choose an icon, mood, etc.... We'll see. I will have plenty of time this summer, I suspect. The problem with all of this is that all permanent stuff, like addresses and anything I put on the PDA, will have to be stored on the imac. But mostly I use my crappy old laptop, so I'll have to keep the imac on all the time and use it as a server. This gets seriously complicated, and really makes me want a brand-new, pretty laptop with the new operating system.

+I finally bought my tickets to Vancouver. I'm excited about it. My plane gets in at about 11 am, local time, so I'll have a little time to kill before checking into a hotel. Which I haven't booked yet, btw. I am so cool. I'm looking forward to seeing raincitygirl and having her introduce me to a city she obviously loves. And we're going off for a weekend, where I will be Speed Racer and she will be the navigator monkey. I'm an excellent driver, yeah.

+I finished reading Chill Factor, by Rachel Caine, and really enjoyed it, as I have the previous two books in the series. It left me a little breathless, though, as these three books have taken place in only three weeks of the heroine's life. I want to send her to a nice spa to relax for a bit. Then, while googling "Rachel Caine" to see if anyone had copied her soundtrack for the book (the book was in the other room and I didn't feel like getting up to find the list in the back of it. yes, I'm lazy.), I found her livejournal, rachelcaine. Cool.

+In a randomly related thought, what's going to happen to all of our links to books when Amazon changes its file structure? Inquiring minds want to know.

+I know there was more I wanted to say when I started this entry, but the epic battle against Palm Desktop (ptooie) and the Sony Clie really fried my brain. Why, when you want to add a new conduit, do you have to go to the drive/library/application_support/Palm_Hotsync/Conduits folder, rather than a slightly more accessible spot in the Palm application folder? Why? Palm is not user-friendly, and can bite me. If it weren't free, and if the alternative weren't $40, I definitely wouldn't be using it. But my principles are not overcoming my cheapness, at the mo. Come on, I just bought a plane ticket. And I'm seriously considering buying myself a permanent account for my birthday. 100 icons, and no more renewals? I'm so there.
