I use a menstrual cup. I use a mooncup. Other friends of mine use keepers they're worn internally (like tampons). It fills up with my menstrual blood. Every so often I look at how much is in it, empty it into the toilet, often I wash it out, and at the end of each period I sterilise it. I graph my periods and since I started using a menstrual cup I've noticed that my period is a day shorter. It's kind to the environment and I don't have to carry more than one of it anywhere I go.
I also use washable menstrual pads, I never liked pads before because they would turn over and stick to my pubic hair, but these I like. I came to them through using washable nappies and thinking if I don't want to throw out a ton of crap and plastic for each baby why would I want to flush a ton of bloody cotton during my breeding years?.
